The Web Design Studio provides a full range of Web site development and hosting services to the Columbia University Medical Center community and beyond.

WDS Hosting Policies

The $200 annual hosting fee provides for the following:

• 24 x 7 server support
• Ongoing server maintenance
• Server upgrades, including OS, security and storage
• Account set-up

Troubleshooting and bug fixing for applications developed by third parties is not covered. Client requests for these services will be billed at the standard WDS hourly rate for programming.

• All server side scripts submitted by clients are subject to review and approval by the WDS. The WDS reserves the right to refuse any script not meeting WDS security standards. If this occurs, the WDS will recommend script substitutes that meet both client functionality and WDS security requirements when possible.
• At this time, the WDS can't commit to a turnaround time for script approval. Requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Clients are subject to charges for server space on the following WDS servers:

• Application Server (Chaos)
• Video Server (Arachne)
• Staging Server (CAIT)

The default allotment is 50 MB ($200 per year charge). Clients using more than 50 MB are subject to additional storage charges per the WDS fee schedule. Please note: Due to the large number of hosting clients we serve, the WDS is unable to notify clients prior to processing hosting fees. This occurs at the end of each fiscal year via internal department invoice (IDI).

• Clients are prohibited from uploading any files to any WDS server other than CAIT. WDS Webmasters are solely responsible for file update on our application or video servers. Any existing accounts with upload access will be eliminated.
