The Web Design Studio provides a full range of Web site development and hosting services to the Columbia University Medical Center community and beyond.

Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP) Account

The Web Design Studio has a dedicated Linux Apache MySQL PHP server. Access to this service is through a LAMP Developer Account on the server. When you sign up to host your Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP) PHP application on the server, you receive:

  • Developer's Account with 50MB of space
  • Access to development and live server instances
  • MySQL database account
  • Use of the server based on "reasonable" throughput and CPU cycles
  • Nightly backups
  • Constant administration monitoring

The Annual Application Hosting fee is $500.

In order to host on this server, an initial code review is required, based on an hourly fee. We will provide an estimate after the code is uploaded to the server. Code review of less than an hour is included in the Hosting fee. We will be primarily be looking at security concerns or processing issues. If this code review is satisfactory, future reviews are not required.

Technical notes:

  • The Web Design Studio can provide Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP) tech support, or feature coding at our hourly fee (currently $75/hour). We will provide a free estimate.
  • "Reasonable" throughput and CPU cycles are quite high, and will not be a concern for the majority of applications. Our main concern is interference with other applications running on the server. If you know ahead of time that your application may be very demanding, please inform us to avoid any service disruptions. We reserve the right to restrict access and throughput as necessary without warning, although we will make every effort to inform you ahead of time to allow an alternate plan to be worked out.
