Faculty FAQs - Electronic Resources and Equipment
How can I find out about using CLIO, Medline and OVID?
The Information Commons can answer basic questions regarding the use of CLIO, Medline and OVID,
but if you need more assistance we suggest you contact a
Reference Librarian. Also see the
class calendar; there are currently weekly classes
for Ovid and PubMed.
Where can I view videos and slides?
There are three viewing rooms on Lower Level 2 of the Library. The rooms can accommodate groups of up to ten people. Check out keys and remote
controls at the Circulation Desk on the 1st Floor of the Library.
Is there a public fax machine available?
You may send and receive faxes from the Interlibrary Loan Office on the lobby level of the Medical Center Library. See the Interlibrary Loan
Office for fax services at: http://library.cpmc.columbia.edu/hsl/fax.html
Where can I scan files?
There are two scanners on the 2nd floor of the Library in the E-Lounge.
One is attached to a PC, one to a Mac. If you have never used a scanner before there are printed instructions on the Documentation carousel
across from the help desk and online here, please scroll down and select
the link for "Scanning and OCR Basics".
How can I reserve the Computer Classroom, PH17 Computer Lab or Harvey?
Please submit the Computer Classroom and Equipment Reservation form or contact Classroom Management for more information.
What if I have special software I need to use on the Lab or Classroom computers for my class?
You can add this information when submitting the Computer Classroom and Equipment Reservation form.
You will need to provide the software to be installed.
How can I rent Audio Visual equipment for a presentation?
If you reserve a classroom via the Reservation form, there are options on the form to reserve equipment as well. If you need equipment without reserving a classroom or lab please contact
the Audio Visual department at (212) 305-8357.
Can I rent a computer or laptop instead of using one in the Library?
Students currently cannot rent computers or laptops from this campus. The
Computer Lounge near the entrance to the Library allows 24 hour access to computers
on the CUMC campus.
