Microsoft Office 2007 System Requirements
You must verify that your computer meets these system requirements before installing or upgrading. Please also see our Office 2007 FAQs for information regarding using the program.
Office 2007 contains the following applications:
Access 2007 – Database Management application
Excel 2007 – Spreadsheet application
Groove 2007 – Collaboration application
InfoPath 2007 – Electronic forms application
OneNote 2007 – Information and note-taking application
Outlook 2007 – E-mail and scheduling application
PowerPoint 2007 – Presentation application
Publisher 2007 – Desktop publishing application
Word 2007 – Word processing application
The Save As PDF add-in for Office 2007 will also be installed automatically.
After you have downloaded the program, change browse to the folder you have saved it in where the download was saved, and double-click on the Office2k7.exe file. It will automatically copy the installation files to a temporary folder and begin the installation.
When prompted, you can select either Install (for a Full Installation) or Customize (to change the default options and exclude certain applications). NOTE: If you have any older versions of Office installed, it they will be removed.

*Special Requirements:
To use OneNote Audio Search, a computer with (2 gigahertz (GHz) processor or higher and 1 GB RAM or higher is recommended. A close-talking microphone is required. The Send to OneNote 2007 print driver not available on a 64 bit operating system.
To use Outlook Instant Search, 512 MB RAM or higher is recommended.
Groove Folder Synchronization not available on 64 bit operating system.
Office Clean-up wizard not available on 64 bit operating system.
Certain inking features require running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or later. Speech recognition functionality requires a close-talk microphone and audio output device. Information Rights Management features require access to a Windows 2003 Server with SP1 or later running Windows Rights Management Services.
Connectivity to Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or later is required for certain advanced functionality in Outlook 2007. Instant Search requires Microsoft Windows Desktop Search 3.0. Dynamic Calendars require server connectivity.
Connectivity to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with SP1 or later running Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services or Office SharePoint Server 2007 is required for certain advanced collaboration functionality. PowerPoint Slide Library requires Office SharePoint Server 2007. Connectivity to Office SharePoint Server 2007 required for browser-enabled InfoPath forms and additional collaboration functionality. Groove Messenger integration requires Windows Messenger 5.1 or later or Communicator 1.0 or later.
Some features require Microsoft Windows Desktop Search 3.0, Microsoft Windows Media Player 9.0, Microsoft DirectX 9.0b, Microsoft Active Sync 4.1, microphone1, audio output device, video recording device (such as a webcam), TWAIN-compatible digital camera or scanner, Windows Mobile 2003 powered Smartphone or Windows Mobile 5 powered Smartphone or Pocket PC, or a router that supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Sharing notebooks requires users to be on the same network.
Actual requirements and product functionality may vary based on your system configuration and operating system.
To download Office 2007, you must login with your valid Columbia UNI and password.
The Office 2007 download is only available for departments that have opted into the Microsoft site license. If you are not able log in with your active UNI account, please check with your Department Administrator to verify whether you are covered under the site license.
