SPSS Site License For Windows and Macintosh

• This date is fixed by SPSS and cannot be pro–rated. If you would like to receive an entire year’s usage, you must wait until May 31, 2008 to purchase the following year’s license (6/1/2008 – 5/31/2009).
• In addition, you must verify SPSS version compatibility with your computer(s) prior to ordering.
• SPSS orders cannot be refunded once the online form has been submitted.

Student Purchases: We are not licensed to sell SPSS to students. Instead, the Columbia University Medical School's bookstore carries the SPSS Graduate Pack for purchase by students only. You must have a valid Columbia student ID to purchase the software, for more information please contact the Audubon Bookstore at (212) 923-2149 or go to 3960 Broadway.

Available Versions and Compatibility: The following versions are available to Columbia University Health Sciences faculty and staff only through the Information Commons.
NOTE: You must verify SPSS version compatibility with your computer(s) prior to ordering. Refunds cannot be given due to compatibility issues.

• Windows: SPSS versions 16.0, 15.0 and 14.0 are available for purchase and renewal. Only SPSS 16 is fully compatible with Windows Vista. You must verify version compatibility before requesting a license, please contact SPSS Support or see the System Requirements on the SPSS web site.
  Windows Vista and SPSS 15: version 15 is not immediately compatible with Windows Vista, please see the SPSS online technical support page at http://support.spss.com/Tech/ for more information. A hotfix may be available but you must contact SPSS support for assistance.
  
• Macintosh: SPSS versions 16.0, 13.0 and 11.0.4 are available for purchase and renewal. Only SPSS 16 is compatible with Intel based Macs. Please contact SPSS Support or see the System Requirements on the SPSS web site.
• Anyone with an older version of SPSS that would like to renew their license must upgrade to one of the available versions. This entails purchasing an installation CD.

Cost, Payment, and Dates
The cost of the SPSS license is as follows:
In addition to the cost of the license, all new licensees and those choosing to upgrade to a newer version of SPSS must purchase a copy of the installation CD for $30.

All payments must be made from a Columbia University FAS account.

The current license is valid from 6/1/07 through 5/31/08. The price is fixed and will not be prorated. Documentation is not included and must be purchased separately and independently. For information on SPSS manuals and training materials, please visit SPSS Inc's online store.

How to License SPSS

1. Complete the SPSS Site License Agreement web form, linked at the end of these instructions.
2. Once submitted:
   If purchasing a license renewal by FAS account only, everything can be completed online. After submitting the form you can follow the instructions to accept and download the license online; no further action is required.
   Otherwise you must complete the following steps:
3. Please allow 24 hours for your request to be processed by the IC staff. Pick up is only available between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday.
4. Stop by the service desk on the 2nd floor of the Health Sciences Library to sign your license and pick up any installation material.
   • Licensee signature and a valid Columbia University ID card will be required to pick up software.
   • You must agree to install SPSS on only those machines for which you have paid the license fee. This agreement is subject to auditing by SPSS Inc.
